There is a moment in every massage when the hands stop sliding and start dragging. The oil has gone. Most massage oils are built for exactly that problem — lots of slip, lots of shine — and then sit on the skin long after the massage is over.
Most body oils have the opposite problem. They absorb fast and feel light, but run out of glide after a few strokes.
When we developed OMBYRA, VEYIRA and NUYRA, we wanted one oil that does both jobs well. Here is how that works, and how to use it.
Every plant oil has its own character. Some are rich and cushioning, some are light and quick. A good massage oil needs both at once: a long, even glide for slow strokes, and a finish that leaves skin satiny instead of greasy.
Our three oils share the same base:
OMBYRA and VEYIRA add sesame oil, the classic massage oil, for an even longer, unhurried slip under the hands.
Warm 5–10 ml between your palms before it touches the skin — cold oil on a warm back is nobody’s idea of relaxation. Work in long, slow strokes and add a little more as you go, rather than starting with too much. Because the esters keep the oil light, you can massage for longer without the skin feeling coated afterwards, and there is usually no need to wipe it off.
The best moment for a body oil is straight after the shower or bath, while the skin is still damp. Press a few drops into your palms and smooth them over arms, legs, shoulders and anywhere that feels dry or tight. On damp skin, the oil spreads further, so a little goes a long way, and it helps hold in the feeling of moisture. Give it a minute before you dress.
On very dry days — winter heating, long flights, after the sun — use it again in the evening on elbows, knees and shins.
OMBYRA and VEYIRA contain essential oils, so they also contain naturally occurring fragrance allergens; the full list is on each product page. If your skin reacts easily to scent, start with NUYRA, and patch-test any new oil on the inside of your forearm first.
One bottle, two rituals: slow hands in the evening, a quiet minute after the shower in the morning. Explore all three on our Massage Oils page.
